        Frequently Asked Questions

        • What types of tree removal services do you provide?

Tree removal services are offered for both residential and commercial properties and cover everything from small tree removals to complex, large-scale jobs. Whether it’s a dead, diseased, storm-damaged, or hazardous tree, the team can safely dismantle and remove it using modern equipment and safe techniques. In Dubbo and surrounding areas, tree removals are carried out with care to avoid damage to nearby structures or landscapes. The service also includes cleaning up and removing all green waste, and stump grinding can be included upon request for a complete removal solution.

        • Do you offer commercial tree services for property developers or councils?

Yes, comprehensive commercial tree services are available for businesses, government bodies, schools, real estate agencies, and developers across the Dubbo region. Services include large-scale tree removals, site clearing, pruning, vegetation management, and tree maintenance programs tailored to commercial properties. These services are performed with efficiency and minimal disruption, meeting compliance and safety standards required for commercial operations. Whether maintaining public green spaces or clearing land for construction, commercial clients can rely on skilled professionals to deliver consistent, high-quality results across various job scopes.

        • What does your emergency tree service include?

Emergency tree services are available 24/7 to respond to storm damage, fallen trees, or immediate hazards caused by unstable or broken limbs. In emergency situations, the priority is to remove the risk quickly and safely, particularly where trees are affecting roads, powerlines, driveways, or buildings. The team is equipped to handle high-risk scenarios and can also provide follow-up support such as chipping, mulching, and full site clean-up. Fast response times and professional service help restore safety and order, making this an essential part of the overall tree service offering.

        • Do I need council approval to remove a tree in Dubbo?

In many cases, council approval is required before removing a tree, especially if it is native, large, or located within a designated conservation area. The Dubbo Regional Council may have specific Tree Preservation Orders in place, and removal without consent can result in penalties. A qualified arborist can assess the tree, help determine whether approval is needed, and assist with the application process. It’s always best to check local guidelines or consult a professional before proceeding with tree removal.

        • When is the best time of year to prune trees?

The best time to prune trees depends on the species and your pruning goals. For most deciduous trees, late winter to early spring is ideal, as it promotes healthy regrowth. For evergreen trees or general maintenance, pruning can be done throughout the year. In Dubbo’s climate, it’s often recommended to avoid heavy pruning during extreme heat or drought periods. A local Dubbo tree service provider can advise on seasonal considerations and the best approach to support tree health and safety.

        • What is the difference between tree lopping and tree pruning?

Tree pruning involves the careful removal of dead, damaged, or unnecessary branches to improve a tree’s health, structure, and appearance. Tree lopping, on the other hand, typically refers to more aggressive cutting that removes large sections of a tree, often for clearance or hazard reduction. While pruning is a recommended arboricultural practice, lopping is sometimes discouraged as it can stress the tree and lead to regrowth issues. A qualified arborist can guide you on the most appropriate method for your specific situation.

        • Are arborists qualified to assess tree safety risks?

Yes, qualified arborists are trained to assess tree health and identify potential risks such as structural weakness, disease, decay, or interference with infrastructure. They use visual inspections and, in some cases, specialised equipment to evaluate trees and recommend appropriate actions. In the Dubbo region, a certified arborist can provide safety reports, hazard assessments, and documentation required for insurance or council purposes. Their expertise helps reduce the risk of property damage or injury caused by unstable or failing trees.

        • Can a tree be saved if it shows signs of disease or decline?

In some cases, trees showing signs of stress, disease, or pest infestation can be saved with the right treatment. This may include targeted pruning, soil improvement, pest management, or fertilisation. Early intervention increases the likelihood of recovery, so it’s important to act quickly if you notice unusual leaf loss, cankers, dieback, or fungal growth. An arborist can diagnose the problem and recommend a care plan tailored to your tree’s condition and species.

        • Is stump grinding necessary after tree removal?

While not mandatory, stump grinding is highly recommended after tree removal to prevent issues like root regrowth, pest infestation, or tripping hazards. Leaving a stump in place can also interfere with landscaping or future construction. Stump grinding involves using machinery to grind the remaining tree base below ground level, allowing the area to be replanted or repurposed. Most tree service providers offer stump grinding as an add-on or part of their removal service.

        • What safety measures do tree service professionals follow?

Tree service professionals follow strict safety procedures to protect themselves, their property, and the public during their work. This includes using harnesses, helmets, and protective gear; operating machinery such as chainsaws and elevated work platforms safely; and adhering to local guidelines and industry standards. They also assess the job site for risks such as overhead powerlines or confined spaces. Engaging a professional tree service provider ensures that tree work is completed efficiently and with minimal risk.

        • How often should trees be inspected on residential properties?

It’s a good idea to have trees on your property professionally inspected every 1–3 years, depending on their age, size, and location. Regular inspections help identify early signs of disease, decay, or structural issues before they become hazardous. If a tree is located near buildings, driveways, or public areas, more frequent assessments may be necessary. A qualified arborist can offer tailored advice based on the species and health of your trees.

        • Can I plant new trees after old ones have been removed?

Yes, you can plant new trees after a removal, but it’s important to choose the right species and location to avoid future problems. Soil quality, space availability, sun exposure, and root systems should all be considered when planning new plantings. If a stump is ground down, allowing some time for the soil to settle is recommended. A professional can assist with selecting suitable native or ornamental species and provide guidance on planting techniques that support healthy, long-term growth.
